As a land locked city, Sheffield provided many hundreds of men for the various sections of the Royal Navy during the Great War. From the Battle of Heligoland Bight and The Battle of Coronel in 1914, to Dogger Bank 1915, Jutland 1916, and to The Raid on Zeebrugge in 1918.
