So far we have identified 604 Sheffield men who served in the various arms of the Royal Navy. There will be duplicate names in these lists, these will be removed as further research is undertaken, just as further names will be added. There 18 Naval airmen, they will be included in the RFC/RAF section.

The Battle of Coronel
The first major battle losses of the 1st World War on the 1st November 1914, HMS Monmouth and HMS Good Hope lost with the loss of 1600 men, of which 19 were "Sheffielders"
The Battle of Jutland
14 British ships and over 6000 men were lost at the Battle of Jutland of these men 36 were "Sheffielders"
